Benfleet is a town in the borough of Castle Point, Essex, England, located approximately 30 miles east of London. It is situated along the northern side of the Thames Estuary and is divided into South Benfleet and North Benfleet. History
Benfleet has a long history dating back to Saxon times. It is notably associated with the Battle of Benfleet in 894 AD, where the Saxons, led by King Alfred’s forces, defeated the Vikings.
